Wholistic or Holistic?

March 6, 2013 You may or may not have noticed that when I mention my Wholistic Nutrition course I spell “wholistic” with a “w”. Well, the other day, someone kindly pointed out that I spell “wholistic” incorrectly. I’m fully aware that here in North America the word is spelled “holistic”, however I choose to spell it with a “w”. Why? Well, because… 1. It’s an Australian thing (and I’m an Aussie), and 2.  consider this …… … Wholistic … contains the word “whole” … and means complete. While Holistic contains the word “hole” … and means (to me at least) incomplete or empty. Would you rather follow a modality that has wholeness at its core, or a hole at its core? Think about it. In all...

Life is Simple

January 19, 2013   The other day someone posted the image to the left on Facebook and even though I’ve seen this before, I was reminded – once again – about the simplicity of Life. It ALL comes down to choice – every single little (or big) thing that we do every moment of the day. Our emotions are what guide us – if we’re feeling happy, we’re on track. If we’re not feeling happy then we’re off track and, if we don’t like where we are, it’s up to US to change the situation. There is no-one to blame, no-one to point the finger at. It’s all, ultimately, our creation therefore if we don’t like what we’re seeing or experiencing, then it’s up to us to make the change. Now that sounds like a great plan, and really simple, but what about...

Hey, Things do Look Different from Down Here!

January 6, 2013 Sometimes I like to lie on the floor with my dog. Seriously. And I did just that yesterday, on the kitchen floor. That’s where Maggie was relaxing and I decided to join her and see the world from her grounded perspective. Of course, she thought I was silly and got up and walked away, but I lay there for a moment pondering about how it is that we humans so rarely lie on the ground anymore. Modern culture seems to be so far removed and very much disconnected from the literal nature of things – from the Earth herself. Step back and see the bigger picture for yourself ….. Most people in modernized, high-tech countries spend a lot of time running around with devices in hand, stressed to the max, and focused on getting from point A to point B...

2013 – a New Beginning?

January 1. 2013   It’s interesting to observe how many people are happy to see the end of 2012 and looking forward to a brand new start with 2013. I feel the same way. Now that 2012 is done, many are breathing a sigh of relief. It was a tough year for many, an intense roller-coaster ride that at times felt like it had derailed. Certainly, there were some stellar, happy moments too, but those seemed few and far between for many of us. 2013 holds promise of change, of new beginnings, and of new opportunities. If you’re tired of doing things the old way, gently let that go and look for a new way of doing things. When opportunity knocks, at least open the door to see what it has to offer. You never know if you don’t at least look! Better yet,...

As the New Year Looms

December 30, 2012 This year has certainly been an interesting one, filled with lots of growth, learning and fun. It seemed very much to be a year of clearing and cleansing (similar to 2011, only not as intense), and at times more about growth than anything else. And that’s a good thing – growth – because really, without growth and change we become stagnant and stuck in the same old rut. As challenging as 2012 was at time, it was equally lots of fun and I have many happy memories. That said, I truly can’t wait to see the back end of 2012 and I am very much looking forward to 2013 and all the new and exciting things it will bring. Someone asked me the other day what New Year’s Resolutions I’m going to make. Good question, as I normally...
