Energy Drinks

September 10, 2013   As a health-care provider, I typically avoid getting annoyed at the huge variety of commercial products advertised as “good for you” (even though they are not), however I’m finding that there is one group of products I can’t ignore – energy drinks. The more I read about them, the less I like them. And it frustrates me to no end that these drinks are readily available on the supermarket shelf, easily accessible by children and teens. You might well think “what’s your problem – it’s just another version of pop”. Let me explain to you why these drinks bother me so much. When in Need

February 2nd 2013 I’ve noticed that necessity often begets creativity. The other night I was craving something sweet to eat after dinner, but there were no treats to be had (there hardly ever are in my home). So what to do? Finally someone is putting a positive twist on a topic that can be overwhelmingly scary. Our food supply has been tampered and messed around with for so long that even fresh produce is confused about whether it’s real or not! Certainly, the big guns of the commercial food industry have been in control for a long time, genetically modifying seeds and plants and advertising garbage and chemicals as “nutritious” food. Those of us who can see through the facade and know that what the industry is doing is WRONG can easily get caught up in the “oh crap” of things, and...
